Former Tennessee Speaker Casada arrested in corruption probe

Glen Casada, the former House Speaker of Tennessee, and his top aide were both arrested Tuesday on federal charges

including bribery and kickbacks, and conspiracy to launder federal funds.

The indictments are months after Robin Smith, a Republican Rep., abruptly resigned following federal wire fraud charges against Casada

Although Casada wasn't named at the time, speculation arose that additional charges might be brought against her in the corruption investigation.

FBI agents detained Casada and Cade Cothren, his former Chief Of Staff, at their home Tuesday morning.

After revelations that he had sent explicit texts to women about years prior, Casada quit the top leadership post in 2019.
